| Sister Mary Carrigan Sister Mary Anne Regina Carrigan, R.S.M., 87, died Feb. 7, 2004 at McAuley Convent, Merion. After graduating from West Catholic Girls’ High School, Sister Anne Regina entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1935. For most of her religious life, she taught in elementary schools in the Philadelphia Archdiocese. She did parish visitation at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in South Philadelphia from 1984 to 1990. She then served on the staff at the motherhouse until 1996. The funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 11 at the motherhouse. Burial was at the community cemetery. Surviving are cousins and members of her religious community. Thomas Conroy Thomas W. Conroy of Atlantic City, N.J., formerly of Havertown, died Feb. 4, 2004. He was the husband of the late Mary E. Conroy (born McDonough). The funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 9 at St. Denis Church, Havertown. Burial was at St. Denis Cemetery. He was the father of Thomas J. Conroy, Mary Ellen Cermignano and brother of Genevieve Lowther. Joseph Cullen Joseph L. Cullen, of Collegeville and formerly of Ardmore, husband of the late Anna M. Cullen (born Curran), died Jan. 30, 2004. The funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 4 at St. Colman Church, Ardmore. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken. He was the father of Kathleen Venafra and Joseph P. Cullen. Also survived by three grandchildren. He was a brother of Jerry and Frank Cullen. Leo D’Orazio Leo D’Orazio, husband of the late Yolanda D’Orazio (born Marconi), died Feb. 3, 2004. The funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 7 at St. Monica Church. Burial was at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield. He was the father of Leon and Michael. Also survived by three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was a brother of Gilda DeCesare and Emma Cudemo. Sister Rosemary Gavin Sister Rosemary Gavin, R.S.M., 56, died Feb. 4, 2004. Born in Philadelphia, Sister Rosemary was a graduate of St. Hubert Catholic High School for Girls. She entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1966. She taught for five years at St. Helena School, Blue Bell, and for three years at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School, Philadelphia. She then became principal at St. Matthias School, Bala Cynwyd, for five years and then ministered for the next nine years as director of religious education at St. Raymond Parish. Later, she returned to St. Raymond’s. She also served as Incorporation Minister for the Sisters of Mercy. The funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 9 at the motherhouse in Merion Station. Burial was at the community cemetery. Surviving are her mother, Rose; a sister, Patricia Moulder; a brother, Andrew and members of her congregation. Mary Heideck Mary E. Heideck (born Campbell), 98, wife of the late Herbert Heideck and sister of the late Veronica Ehne, Anna Tindel and Patience Campbell, died Jan. 27, 2004. The funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 2 at St. Dominic Church. Burial was at Beverly, N.J. Surviving are three children, William Armstrong, James Armstrong and Marie Brown. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Mary Judd Mary C. Judd (born Lee), wife of the late William Judd, died Jan. 30, 2004. Mrs. Judd was employed by Lower Bucks Hospital for 20 years. The funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 7 at St. Mark Church, Bristol. Burial was at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Penndel. She was the mother of Mary Pizzo, William and the late Judy and Virginia. Also survived by five grandchildren. She was a sister of Rita Struble. Alice Sidner Alice P. Sidner of Brookhaven, wife of Walter R. Sidner, died Jan. 15, 2004. She was the daughter of the late James and Rose Vincenzo (born McDonnell). The funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 21 at Our Lady of Charity Church, Brookhaven. Burial was at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield. She was a sister of Mary R. Fusco and the late John Vincenzo. Also survived by nieces, newphews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Alice Whelan Alice G. Whelan (born Pollick), 80, wife of Joseph E. Whelan Sr., died Jan. 30, 2004. The funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 3 at St. Bernard Church. Burial was at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield. She was the mother of JoAnne Schorle, Joseph E, Jr., and the late Alice Witte. Also survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Anne Youell Anne M. Youell, 89, of Southampton, wife of the late Andrew E. Youell, died Jan. 1, 2004. Mrs. Youell was a 1931 graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School and attended Immaculata College. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Holmesburg Council, K. of C. and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. The funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 5 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Southampton. Burial was at St. Dominic Cemetery, Philadelphia. Surviving are two daughters, Maureen C. McKernan and Kathleen Torano. Also survived by five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a brother-in-law, Joseph Aiken. Edward Hall Edward F. Hall, 76, of Doylestown, died Jan. 10, 2004. He was the husband of Esther Marie Hall (born Manente). Mr. Hall In 1983 founded Neotech Corp., where he was president until he retired in 1999. After retirement, he remained active at Neotech performing sales duties and serving on the board of directors. He was president of the St. Joseph’s Society and was a frequent lector at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Doylestown. The funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 14 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Doylestown. Burial was at St. Mary Cemetery, Doylestown. He is survived by three children, Mary Ann Battipaglia, Thomas E. Hall and Nancy H. Presti. Also survived by seven grandchildren; also a sister, Doris Dales.
