Serra Club of Philadelphia celebrates 50 years Back when he was a star basketball forward at St. Joseph’s College, Larry Kenney became acquainted with priests while golfing at the nearby Bala Golf Club. “I always admired them and so wanted to do something to be associated [with them] ... and to [be] more like them,” said Kenney, now 83 and a member of Our Mother of Good Counsel Parish in Bryn Mawr. Kenney got his chance to do just that when, in 1954, he became a charter member of the Serra Club of Philadelphia.
