Sister Avila Brand
Sister M. Avila Brand, I.H.M., the former Agnes C. Brand, died May 8, 2004. She was 90.
Born in Philadelphia, Sister Avila entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1931.
She served in the Philadelphia Archdiocese, Mt. Carmel, Pa., and Somerville, N.J.
She retired to Camilla Hall, Immaculata, in 2001.
The funeral Mass was celebrated May 12 at Camilla Hall. Burial was at Immaculata.
Surviving are a sister, Marian Long, and members of her congregation.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Father Joseph Brand, O.S.F.S. and a sister, Sister M. Rosalia Brand, I.H.M.


Sister Leonore Britt
Sister Leonore Britt, S.H.C.J., the former Mother Mary Assunta, died June 9, 2004. She was 84.
Born in New York City, Sister Leonore was a Sister of the Holy Child Jesus for 54 years. She ministered in Pennsylvania for 21 years.
She taught at the former St. Edward School, and from 1973 to 1993, she taught at Rosemont College and administered the Health Perspective Progam, a holistic health program that she founded.
She also did volunteer work at Providence Center.
The funeral Mass was celebrated June 14 at Our Mother of Good Counsel Church, Bryn Mawr. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken.
Surviving are members of her congregation.


Catherine Carney
Catherine M. Carney (born Slattery) of Havertown, wife of the late Edward F. Carney, died June 6, 2004.
The funeral Mass was celebrated June 10 at St. Pius X Church, Broomall. Burial was at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
She was the mother of Edward F., William J., Catherine C. Dawson, Helen C. Berger, Joseph J. and Mary C. Gorman.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren.
She was a sister of Joseph Slattery and Virginia Cona.


Sister Regina Carroll
Sister M. Regina Carmel Carroll, I.H.M., the former Helene C. Carroll, died June 1, 2004. She was 90.
Born in Mt. Carmel, Pa., Sister Regina Carmel served in the Philadelphia Archdiocese, the Allentown Diocese, and in Runnemede and Bellmawr, N.J.
She retired to Camilla Hall, Immaculata, in 1998.
The funeral Mass was celebrated June 4 at Camilla Hall. Burial was at Immaculata.
Surviving are members of her congregation.

Philomena Ferrara
Philomena Ferrara (born Lucia), wife of the late Eugene F. Ferrara, died June 6, 2004.
The funeral Mass was celebrated June 10 at Holy Spirit Church. Burial was at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
She was the mother of Dr. Vincent Ferrara.
She is also survived by three grandchildren.
She was a sister of Minnie Paino.

Laurence Greene
Laurence F. Greene, 82, of Washington Crossing, husband of Margaret Greene (born McKenna), died June 6, 2004.
Dr. Greene was superintendent of schools for Cheltenham Township from 1968 to 1974.
During World War II he served in the Navy.
A memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Martin of Tours Church, New Hope.
He was the father of Helen Greene, Larry Greene and Virginia Yildirim.
He is also survived by three grandchildren.


Robert Koneski
Robert M. Koneski, 51, of Plymouth Meeting, husband of Donna M. Koneski (born Foster), died June 6, 2004.
The funeral Mass was celebrated June 11 at Epiphany of Our Lord Church, Plymouth Meeting. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken.
He was the father of Melissa, Christopher, Maureen and Lauren; and the son of Mary (born Melasecca) and the late Edward Koneski.
He was a brother of Michael and Mark Koneski.


Bro. Stanley MacNeill
Brother Stanley MacNeill of the Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd, former director of St. John’s Hospice, died June 5, 2004.
Brother Stanley entered the Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd in 1967.
He was director of St. John’s Hospice from 1978 to 1987 and again from 1990 to 1994.
The funeral Mass was celebrated June 8 in Toronto. Burial was June 9 at St. Joseph Cemetery, Camp Bretton, Nova Scotia.
Surviving is a sister, Margaret.


Eleanor McCann
Eleanor McCann (born Courtney), wife of the late Francis J. McCann, died June 5, 2004.
The funeral Mass was celebrated June 8 at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, Glenside. Burial was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham.
She was the mother of Sister Eleanor McCann, R.S.M., Francis J. Jr., Gerald J., Kathleen Johnston, Susan Moyer, Mary Theresa McCann and Michael.
She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


Rita McDermott
Rita M. McDermott (born Cullen) of Glenolden, wife of the late John K. McDermott, died June 7, 2004.
The funeral Mass was celebrated June 10 at St. Kevin Church, Springfield. Burial was at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
She was the mother of John T., Kathleen A. Cassidy, Nancy Ann Koslosky, Kevin J. and Rita M. McDermott.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by four sisters and five brothers.


Sister Maria Mulligan
Sister Maria Francisca Mulligan, I.H.M., the former Elizabeth Mulligan, died June 2, 2004. She was 93.
Born in Philadelphia, Sister Maria Francisca entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of May in 1927.
She served in the Philadelphia Archdiocese, the Allentown Diocese, and in Bellmawr and Cherry Hill, N.J.
She retired to Camilla Hall, Immaculata, in 1981.
The funeral Mass was celebrated June 7 at Camilla Hall. Burial was at Immaculata.
Surviving are three cousins, Sister M. Marcella, I.H.M., Sister Regina Concepta, I.H.M., Sister Mary Cloran, I.H.M., and members of her congregation.


Frank Summers
Frank M. Summers, 71, of Elkins Park and formerly of Abington, husband of Mary T. Summers (born Murray), died June 8, 2004.
Mr. Summers was a retired contract officer for the Department of Defense.
He was a 1952 graduate of Northeast Catholic High School.
He served in the Marines during the Korean War.
The funeral Mass was celebrated June 12 at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Abington. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery, Abington.
He was the father of Frank, Michael, Joseph Summers and Roseann Hertkorn.
Also survived by six grandchildren.
He was a brother of Margaret Bitner and the late Michael Summers; brother-in-law of Mary Ann Summers.
