In this issue:

Prayer: Damage control: Prayer of reparation: A little boy comes home from school, his feet dragging and his eyes blinking back tears of sorrow. “They called me fatso, Mom. And no one would play with me.”

Black Catholic: Historic first for Philadelphia: Cardinal Justin Rigali became a member of the Knights of St. Peter Claver on Saturday, June 5, 2004, at the magnificent St. Athanasius Church in Philadelphia’s North Vicariate. It was a landmark event for Philadelphia: Cardinal Rigali is the first Philadelphia cardinal in history to become a member of the order.
Education: Cardinal praises future Catholic educators: Today, we gather at a moment when the Church sends you out to share in a teaching mission that is her own but that comes from the Lord. How grateful we are that this Alliance exists and benefits so many in Catholic education, both the leaders and the students themselves.
In the Parishes: This week, focus on Philadelphia North's Our Lady of Consolation Parish, and hear about what special devotions are observed, new ministries and parish history.

Vocation Series:  Priestly Ordinations on the rise: They came from all walks of life — scientists, lawyers, artists, laborers, real estate agents — and ranged in age from 25 to 70. Some men spent years working in foreign missions; others never left the town where they were born.

Reporting the truth about Catholic high schools
In June, 2004, more than 5,000 students graduated from Catholic high schools. Of that number, 94 percent continued their education, with 84 percent of that number attending four-year colleges. Further, 42 percent received scholarship money in excess of $180 million — in fact, scholarship awards for Catholic high school students have exceed the $100 million mark for the past eight years.
Lansdale's hall-of-fame coach: Faith is key to achievements Faith. Family. Football. This is the order of importance for Crusaders’ head coach Jim Algeo, father of nine and grandfather of 14, who — despite a quintuple heart bypass six months ago — will be back in the classroom and on the field this fall for his 37th year of teaching and coaching at Lansdale Catholic High School.
Fulfilling a promise: A4 mentoring program
The private prep school has typically been the launching pad for the future movers and shakers of our world. From there, it’s often on to the Ivy League, then the boardroom, and finally into the upper echelons of society.
Survey says: Residents support senior housing
A recent Archdiocesan survey of South Philadelphia residents regarding the possibility of converting the former St. John Neumann High School for Boys into housing for older adults has returned a thumbs-up for the project.
Learning and living in Lourdes
In no time I was standing at the Air France ticket booth in the Philadelphia International Airport. After a seven-hour flight, we arrived in Paris. We boarded another plane for a one-hour flight to Toulouse, and after getting everyone's luggage, traveled three hours by bus to Lourdes.
Modesty in dress: Protecting the mystery of you
No one like you has ever lived on earth, and no one like you will ever live here again. We’re a planet full of one-of-a-kind creatures. This individual uniqueness is the essence of who we are. It’s our own personal mystery.

Pro-life feminism is not an oxymoron: The Feminist case against abortion: “Every 38 seconds in this rich country, a woman lays her body down for an abortion because of a lack of emotional and financial support,” said Serrin Foster, President of Feminists for Life of America at the last Theology on Tap of the summer. A-BROADening horizons: Living God's plan: “Have no fear of moving into the unknown. Simply step out fearlessly knowing that I am with you, therefore no harm can befall you; all is very, very well. Do this in complete faith and confidence,” Pope John Paul II wrote, describing what it is to have complete trust in God’s plan with your life. Story
