| Compiled by Joe Novetsky Margaret Almond Margaret F. Almond (born Finnigan), 87, of Middletown Township in Delaware County, died Feb. 27, 2005. A nurse, Mrs. Almond was a former member of the staff of Delaware County Memorial Hospital. Later, she served in public health in Chester. In 1987 she received a public service award from the Philadelphia County Medical Society. During World War II, she was a member of the U.S. Army Nursing Corps. The funeral Mass was celebrated March 4 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Chester Heights. Burial was at St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery. She was the mother of Peggy Margolin and William Almond. Also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mary Brogan Mary F. Brogan, daughter of the late Margaret and John Brogan, sister of the late Helen and friend of Mary and John Cunningham, died Feb. 3, 2005. The funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 8 at St. Martin of Tours Church. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon. William Dickinson William C. Dickinson, son of Mary A. (born Hood) Dickinson and the late George H. Dickinson, died March 1, 2005. The funeral Mass was celebrated March 5 at St. Dorothy Church, Drexel Hill. Burial was at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield. He was the brother of George J., Robert, James M., Gerard G. and the late Mary Elizabeth O’Shea. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Sister H. S. Doherty Sister Holy Spirit Doherty, of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, died Jan. 24, 2005. She resided at the congregation’s convent, 9736 Walley Avenue. The funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 29 at Holy Redeemer Provincialate, Huntingdon Valley. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken. She is survived by a sister, Dorothy DiGiullo. She was predeceased by five brothers, Thomas, Donald, James, Joseph and Leonard. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Anne Durako Anne A. Durako (born Ford), of St. Petersburg, Fla., and formerly of Philadelphia, died Jan. 31, 2005. She was the wife of Joseph J. Durako. A memorial service was held Feb. 12 at Holy Family Church, St. Petersburg. She was the mother of Jo Anne Durako and Michael Durako. Also survived by three grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was a sister of Alice G. Ford, Margaret Aubrey and Francis Ford. William Lutz William J. Lutz, 87, of Morton, husband of the late Elizabeth D. Lutz (born Baumann), died Feb. 25, 2005. Mr. Lutz was an aircraft mechanic and inspector for the U.S. Naval Air Propulsion Centers. He retired in 1983. He also designed model airplanes. The funeral Mass was celebrated March 2 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Morton. Burial was at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield. He was the father of Dorothy E. Clemens, Joan F. Donovan and Patricia A. Haas. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Maria Montero Maria D. Montero, wife of the late Eduardo C. Montero, died March 1, 2005 at Sacred Heart Manor. She was the mother of Father Eduardo G. Montero, assistant judicial vicar of the Metropolitan Tribunal. The funeral Mass was celebrated March 5 at Sacred Heart Manor. Burial was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham. She was also the mother of Maria Montero. Maureen Mooney Maureen A. Mooney, 53, of Blue Bell, an outstanding basketball player and co-captain of the Immaculata College “Mighty Macs” national championship women’s basketball teams of 1972 and 1973, died Feb. 23, 2005. She was a graduate of St. Hubert High School and worked as a financial consultant. The funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 28 at Epiphany of Our Lord Church, Plymouth Meeting. Burial was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham. Surviving are a brother, Michael L. Mooney, four nieces and two nephews. Sister Eileen Power Sister Eileen Marie Power, O.S.F., died Feb. 28, 2005. She was 93 and a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 69 years. Born in Kilacthomas, County Waterford, Ireland, Sister Eileen Marie ministered for 29 years in the Baltimore Archdiocese. She also spent 26 years in the Wilmington Diocese. She retired to Assisi House, Aston, in 1996. The funeral Mass was celebrated March 7 at Assisi House. Burial was at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Aston. Surviving are a sister, Sister Angela Patrice Power, who also resides at Assisi House; nieces; nephews; cousins, and members of her congregation. Marian Ward Marian T. Ward, 50, died Feb. 26, 2005 of a brain tumor. She was diagnosed with the tumor at age 25. She worked at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and served as a teacher’s aide at St. Francis Xavier School. The funeral Mass was celebrated March 4 at St. Francis Xavier Church. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken. She was a sister of Timothy Ward and Elaine Favuzzi. Also survived by five nieces. |
