Bush nominates pro-life Catholic to Supreme Court President George W. Bush has delivered on at least one of his major campaign promises. His nomination for the U.S. Supreme Court, Judge John G. Roberts, is pro-life. Cardinal meets with president of Lebanon Cardinal Rigali, in Lebanon to deliver the commencement address at Notre Dame University, met July 8 with Lebanese President Emile Jamil Lahoud. The president is, by law, a Catholic of the Maronite rite, which is in full communion with the Vatican.
