Joseph A. Baird
Father Joseph A. Baird, O.S.F.S., a teacher and Oblate parish priest, died Sept. 27, 2005. He was 66. Born in Philadelphia, Father Baird was a 1957 graduate of Northeast Catholic High School. He entered the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales in 1961. Father Baird taught at Father Judge High School; Northeast Catholic High School; Salesianum School, Wilmington, Del., and Bishop Ireton High School, Alexandria, Va. He also served as pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Asheboro, N.C., and as associate pastor of St. Joachim Parish in Philadelphia. He also served as chaplain at Nazareth Hospital. The funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 1 at De Sales Centre, Childs, Md. Burial was at Childs. Surviving are three sisters, Mary Ann McIntyre, Joan Gibbons and Katherine Kawalec; five brothers, James, Gerald, David, John and Francis. Also survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Higgins and Leona Gallagher, and a brother, Anthony.

Alice Burke
Alice Burke (born Lavery), wife of the late Michael A. Burke, died Aug. 27, 2005. Mrs. Burke was originally from County Monaghan, Ireland. The funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 3 at Regina Nursing Home in Norristown, by her nephew, Msgr. Michael J. Burke. She was the mother of Sister Immaculee, O.S.F., and Michael G., Joseph A. and Sally. Also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandson, and a nephew, Stephen Lavery. She was a cousin of Sister Celestine, S.S.J.

Rita Cataline
Rita Rose Cataline (born Nulty), 75, of Somerton, died Sept. 25, 2005. She was the wife of Michael R. Cataline. The funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 29 at St. Christopher Church. She was the mother of Ann Daniels, Michael D., James, Joseph, Marie MacDonald, Daniel and Rita Fritz. Also survived by 25 grandchildren. She was a sister of Mark Nulty, Anne Stevens, the late Marie Haddow, Joseph Nulty, Helen Rumpf, Jeanne Davey and Francis Nulty.

Mary DiGennaro
Mary DiGennaro (born Donofrio), 96, wife of the late John DiGennaro, died Sept. 25, 2005. The funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 29 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham. She was the mother of Margaret Pianelli and Rose O’Rourke. Also survived by eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was a sister of Caroline Bisignaro and Salvatore Donofrio.

Dorothy Geidzynski
Dorothy C. Geidzynski (born Joachim), wife of the late Joseph Geidzynski, died Sept. 24, 2005. The funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 29 at St. Adalbert Church. Burial was at St. Peter Cemetery. She was the mother of Carole Robbins-Dombrowski. Also survived by two grandchildren. She was a sister of Eleanor Kowalik and William Joachim.

John Hegar
John J. Hegar, 87, of Upper Darby, husband of the late Josephine F. Hegar (born Donahue), died Sept. 25, 2005. Mr. Hegar was in the accounting industry, working for 45 years for Hegar and Crawford in Haddonfield, N.J. He was a graduate of West Catholic Boys’ High School. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. The funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 28 at St. Laurence Church, Highland Park. Burial was at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield. He was a brother of Eugene P. Hegar, Sheila Hegar and the late Kathleen Manidis. Also survived by nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand nephews.

Herbert Listner
Herbert K. Listner, husband of Eleanor Listner (born Hamilton), died Sept. 25, 2005. The funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 28 at St. Bartholomew Church. Burial was at St. Dominic Cemetery. He was the father of George, Theresa and Frank. Also survived by five grandchildren.

Father George Lepping
Father George M. Lepping, S.M., a member of the Marist Fathers and Brothers of Washington, D.C., died Aug. 26, 2005. He was 95. A native of Philadelphia, Father Lepping spent three-and-a-half years as a prisoner of war and then continued to serve in the South Pacific for another 46 years. In retirement, he resided at the Marist Center in Washington, D.C. The funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 30 at St. Jerome Church. Burial was at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem. He was the brother of Dorothea A., the late Madeline Kilburn, John P., Agnes M. Gontram, Paul A. and Richard F. Also survived by 11 nieces and nephews, many grandnieces and grandnephews, and great-grandnieces and nephews.

Joseph Picollo
Joseph A. Picollo, 86, of Aldan died Sept. 25, 2005. He was the husband of the late Teresa Picollo (born Zirpoli). The funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 29 at Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Darby. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon. He was a brother of Theresa Fay, Gloria Stamato, the late Phillip, Julia, Mildred Medici, Helen Scallo, Edith Zimbardo and John. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

Julia Swavy

Julia E. Swavy, 93, of Newark, Del., and formerly of Chester, died Sept. 28, 2005. She was the wife of the late Alexander J. Swavy. She was a life-long member of St. Hedwig Parish, Chester, and a member of the Polish-American Citizens Club of Chester. The funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 1 at St. John the Beloved Church in Wilmington, Del. Burial was at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Linwood, Pa. Surviving are a daughter, Janice M. Swavy; sisters, Rose Orobono and Kitty Czarnota, and a brother-in-law, John C. Cheban. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
