Catholic : Commencement
speaker even inspires his teachers He
may not be your typical commencement speaker, but Benjamin Rosehart,
the La Salle senior who will be addressing his fellow graduates on May
14, will not be any less inspirational, or any less able to impart words
of wisdom that will resonate with his classmates. Unidos
en Dios: ¡Feliz
día de las Madres!
Los dones de una madre Hace
tiempo, le pregunté a mi tía Dora, ¿cómo
era mi madre? «Muy bella y muy religiosa», respondió
sin vacilar. Su descripción me impactó porque nunca había
considerado a mi mamá bella.

Faith: More
than 3,000 teens attend chastity day programs
Generation
Life’s 18th annual Chastity Days program reached more than 3,000
eighth-grade students with the message of chastity in three separate,
jam-packed events that included national chastity speakers, a modesty
fashion show, pro-life video presentations and music provided by the
DJ Jazzy Frank.
The anguish still sounds in the voice of Mary Schindler a year after
the death of her cognitively disabled daughter, Terri Schiavo.
New
Chinese Bishop has ties to Philadelphia
Despite the sensitive relationship between China’s Communist
Party and the Vatican, the two have agreed on the episcopal ordination
of Bishop Paul Pei Junmin, a 37-year-old prelate who earned two advanced
degrees at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood.
The
Mom Café “When
I was in high school, I used to wonder what my mother did at home all
day. Now I know.”
Kris Antenuci, a 41-year-old mother of three, sits at a table on a sunny
Monday morning in May, laughing along with a dozen other young mothers,
and adds: “I have such a greater appreciation for my mother, who
stayed at home.” Catholic
Social Services, Mater Dolorosa Parish cradle young families On
a cold day not long ago, a poor, young mother walked, in slippers, nearly
two miles to the church hall of Mater Dolorosa Parish in the Frankford
section of the city.
She carried a brown bag filled with cans of baby formula in one hand,
and a Catholic Social Services tote bag, also filled with formula, in
the other. Her 13-month-old child rode in a plastic booster seat strapped
around her neck and chest. For
the love of God, family … and art Janet
Clark McShain was pursuing her career goal as an artist when she met
her future husband.
They both had a heart for mission and a desire for a large family, so
when it came time to decide between her career, her family or missionary
work, she chose it all. Readers
tell why they love the Blessed Mother
A few years back, I added a new prayer to my daily prayers. I asked
Mary to protect my teenage son and keep him safe when I couldn’t
be there. Learning
to be healed One
touch from Jesus Christ is enough to change a person forever.
That was the lesson learned by almost 200 people who gathered in Corpus
Christi Church in Upper Gwynedd on April 26 to receive His healing touch.
Our
Lady of Confidence Day School: Learning for life Six
year old Tommy “T.J.” Hendrie loves his friends. There are
Sean, and Kirstyn, and Robbie, and another Sean, and then his best friend,
Kristina. The class is full of people who like him, and love to play
with him because he’s so happy and loves to be funny and act silly.
