Special Mass and Luncheon
Newly ordained priests and priest jubilarians will be honored by the Serra Club of Philadelphia Monday, May 22. Bishop Michael F. Burbidge will celebrate Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in Center City with a luncheon following at the Union League.

Noting Jubilees
Sister Mary Zosso is among three Medical Mission Sisters celebrating the 60th anniversary of their first profession of vows this year. She will join them and others who are celebrating golden jubilees on Sunday, June 11, at a Mass at the community’s North American Headquarters in Fox Chase.

Golden jubilarians currently in ministry or in residence in Philadelphia include Sisters Joan Coughlan, Estelle Demers, Clarita Hackman, Alice Hanks, Jane Pellowski and Jean Schulties.

Also attending will be Sisters Barbara Collings and Justine Church, in mission in California; Sister Kathleen Monahan, New York; and Sister Patricia Tunnicliff, Arizona. Not attending, but celebrating a golden jubilee is Sister Catherine Ouellette, Peru, and 60th-anniversary jubilarians Sister-Doctor Katherine Jobson and Sister Boniface Lischwe, both in California.

Understanding Islam
Muslim cleric Iman Anwar Muhalman has been invited to speak on “Understanding the Faith of Islam” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, in St. Ephrem School Hall in Bensalem. A native of Philadelphia, he leads a mosque in West Philadelphia and has spoken at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. Information: 215-245-1698.

Enrichment Day
St. Peter Claver Center for Evangelization will host an enrichment day for extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at the Center, 502 S. 12th Street. Information: 215-735-3164.

Musical Concert
The DePasquale Family will present a concert to benefit the Associate Missionaries of the Assumption at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at Father Michael Smith Chapel at St. Joseph’s University. The Missionaries are a lay group of young men and women who offer a year or two of their lives to the service of God and their fellow human beings in various parts of the world. Tickets available at the door.

Golf and Car Show
The 9th annual Immaculata University Women’s Golf Open will be held Monday, May 15, at Hershey’s Mill Golf Club in West Chester. Registration at 10 a.m. Information: 610-647-4400, ext 3122. ... Alumni of Conwell-Egan High School will host the 2nd annual custom car show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21, in Fairless Hills. Information: 215-321-0698.

Day for Women
The Queen of Peace Chapter of Magnificat, a ministry to Catholic Women, will sponsor a day of prayer and praise Friday, May 19, at Our Lady of Czestochowa Shrine in Doylestown. Franciscan Friar Andrew Apostoli of EWTN will be the speaker. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Information: 215-675-8029.

Sign Language
Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing,” a new translation in sign language and spoken English, will be presented until Saturday, May 13 at Conestoga High School in Berwyn. For curtain times and more info, call 877-651-5501.


Meetings

Dr. Lester Ruppersberger, D.O. will present the facts about stem cells from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Satuday, May 13 at St. Ignatius Religious Education Center. Includes continental breakfast. Free will offering.

Mass of Remembrance
Persons who have lost a child through miscarriage, still-birth, abortion or illness are invited to attend a Mass of Remembrance at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Springfield. Information: 610-623-2783.

Vigil for Life

Father Joseph L. Coffey will conduct the Helpers of God’s Precious Infants vigil for Life Saturday, May 20. Following Mass at 7 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in Center City, the clergy and congregation will pray the rosary at a nearby abortion center and return to St. John’s for Benediction.
