Charismatic Retreat

Community Breakfast
The Men of Queen of Peace (M.O.Q.O.P) will hold a community breakfast
on Sunday, Jan. 28 after the 9:30 a.m. Mass. The guest speaker will be
Don Saleski, the former Stanley Cup and Philadelphia Flyers Hockey Star.

Computer Classes
A 10-session series of beginners’ computer classes will be held
from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 5 to March 7 at the
Interac Center for Older Adults’ Computer Lab, 6012 Ridge Ave. The
instructor, Rosalie Del Borrello, has been praised by past participants
for her patience and clarity. The cost is $75 for adults 60+, $80 for

Reading and Book Signing
The Irish Studies Program at Immaculata University will sponsor a reading
and book signing by Juilene Osborne-McKnight, the Irish storyteller and
teacher, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31 in Loyola Hall, room 127, on
the university campus. The author earned an M.F.A. in writing at the sister
colleges of St. Patrick in Carlow, Ireland and Carlow University in Pittsburgh.
She speaks Gaelic and teaches Celtic and Native American myth, as well
as fiction writing, at De Sales University. Her appearance is open to

Spanish Classes
The Catholic Institute for Evangelization will hold pastoral classes in
basic Spanish from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays, Jan. 29 through March 19,
with no class on Monday, Feb. 19. There will also be classes from 10 to
11:30 a.m. Saturdays from Jan. 27 to March 10. For more information contact

Women’s Spiritual Retreat
The Elizabeth Ministry of St. Dorothy Parish in Drexel Hill will host
a morning of reflection, from 9 a.m to noon Saturday, Feb. 3, titled,
“The Experience of God in Everyday Life — A Retreat for Women
of All Ages.” Join MaryAnne Nolan, R.S.M., Co-Director of Mercy
Spiritual Ministries and a faculty member at Gwynedd-Mercy College, for
presentations, prayer, and sharing. There is no fee for participation.

Witness, Praise and Music
John-Paul Kasperowicz will offer an evening of witness, praise and music
at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1 at St. Anastasia Church, on West Chester Pike

Vigils for Life
Father John R. McFadden will conduct the Helpers of God’s Precious
Infants vigil for life Saturday, Jan. 27, at Presentation B.V.M. Church,
Cheltenham. The rosary will be prayed at 6:30 a.m. at the Tabor Road Medical
Center, followed by Mass at 8 a.m. at Presentation. A vigil will also
be held Jan. 27 at the 8th and Cherry Streets abortion site in Center
City at 6:30 a.m., with Mass at 9 a.m. at the Newman Center, 38th and
Chestnut Streets. Father Joseph P. Lea will conduct a vigil Saturday,
Feb. 3, at Christ the King Church. Following Mass at 7 a.m., the clergy
and congregation will pray the rosary at a nearby abortion site. A vigil
will also be held Feb. 3 at 8 a.m. at St. Agnes Church in West Chester.

Mass for Healing
An evening Mass for healing will be celebrated at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Feb.
2 in Annunciation B.V.M. Church, Havertown. The rosary will be prayed
at 7 p.m. All are welcome.
Padre Pio Prayer Group
The Padre Pio Prayer Group will meet Feb. 3 at Holy Savior Church, 407
E. Main Street, Norristown, for rosary at 9:40 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m.
A meeting will follow the Mass.
Polish American Congress
At noon Saturday, Feb. 3, the Polish American Congress will sponsor its
Annual Kosciuszko Tribute Ceremony at the Kosciuszko House, 3rd and Pine
Streets, Philadelphia. General Thaddeus Kosciuszko was an American Revolutionary
War hero and the founder of West Point. A luncheon will follow at the
Holiday Inn Hotel, 4th and Arch Streets. Everyone is invited to attend

Italian Classes
The American-Italy Society announces five full immersion language classes
on Feb. 3, March 3, April 7, May 5, and June 2 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
In addition, a program for children aged from 7 to 11 will meet on Fridays
from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for ten weeks from Feb. 2 to April 6. Much of that

Mass for Black History Month
The opening Mass for Black History Month for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia
will be celebrated at 10 a.m Sunday, Feb. 4, at St. Therese Catholic Church,
Upsal and Ardleigh Streets. Father Stephen Thorne, director of the Office
for Black Catholics and Pastor of St. Therese Church, is the celebrant
and homilist.
