Prayer: Lent
is coming — how can we prepare?
As the earthly seasons change, so do the liturgical seasons of the
Church. We, too, as followers of Christ, are called to transformation
throughout the year. Lent is the season of preparation for the passion
and death of Our Lord. A time of repentance. A time to become closer
to God. The solemnity of Lent culminates in hope and rejoicing as
we enter the Easter season and celebrate Christ’s Resurrection
and power over death.
Black
Catholic: Four
congregations commit to fight racism

of forgiving debts, forgiving wrongs, letting the land rest, and listening
to the law of the Lord.
Knights
of St. Peter Claver celebrate anniversary
It was in broad
daylight on the Benjamin Franklin
Parkway, early on a Sunday afternoon. Almost 1,000 uniformed, black
Catholics — men dressed in black, and women in white —
extended the entire block of the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and
Paul, in a line a half-mile long.
Parenting: Kid’s
Lenten resolutions can make a mom’s head spin

and weak, I have to admit to a far less noble explanation: My middle-aged
brain was attempting to track each family member’s resolutions.
Profile: Celebrating

The
magic touch? Reiki and healing touch Everyone wants to be healed.
Anyone who has ever attended a healing Mass can attest to the crowds
that flock to the altar of the Lord to receive His healing touch.
Unfortunately, there are plenty of imitations available in the so-called
“New Age” movement.
Who,
me? An evangelist?
If you want to welcome potential Catholics to the Church, or fallen-away
Catholics back to the Church, you can start simply by giving up your
favorite pew in church.
