Sister
Mary Consilio
Sister Mary Consilio, S.B.S., formerly Mary Teresa Healy, died February
1, 2007. She was 89. She was born the ninth of 10 children of Daniel and
Mary Collins Healy of Limerick, Ireland. She entered the Sisters of the
Blessed Sacrament on September 5, 1937, and professed her final vows at
Xavier University, New Orleans, La., on August 22, 1945. Sister Mary Consilio
began her ministry in New Orleans. She then taught elementary school in
Philadelphia, California, Ohio and Washington, D.C., and then served in
New York. She returned to St. Elizabeth Convent in Bensalem in 1998, where
she worked in support services until 2002. A funeral Mass was celebrated
Feb. 7 at the motherhouse chapel of the sisters of the Blessed Sacrament
in Bensalem. Interment was in the motherhouse cemetery. She is survived
by her sister, Nora Denison, and her brother, Dan Healy of Ireland.
Sister Cordia Kobierowska
Sister Cordia Kobierowska, C.S.F.N., died Feb. 2, 2007, at Mount Nazareth,
in Philadelphia. She was 82, and a member of the congregation of the Sisters
of the Holy Family of Nazareth for 65 years. A graduate of the Philadelphia
School of Pharmacy and Science, Sister Cordia served as a pharmacist at
Nazareth Hospital for 40 years, from 1947 to 1987. For the next 20 years
she worked at Mount Nazareth in various capacities. A funeral Mass was
celebrated at the provincialate chapel on Feb. 5, with burial in the community
cemetery.
Sister Margaret Rosarii Queenan
Sister Margaret Rosarii Queenan, S.S.J., formerly Margaret Queenan, died
on Jan. 22, 2007 at St. Joseph Villa, Flourtown. She was 86. She was born
in Philadelphia, the daughter of Joseph Queenan and Margaret Lyons. She
entered the Sisters of Saint Joseph Sept. 8, 1939. She taught in the Archdioceses
of Philadelphia and Newark, and the Diocese of Allentown. When she finished
her ministry as a teacher, she worked in the St. Joseph Guild office and
the financial department office in the congregation’s motherhouse.
After retirement, she continued to serve as an extraordinary minister
of holy Communion, lector, and compassionate friend to the sick. A Mass
of Christian Burial was celebrated Jan. 26, 2007, with burial in the community
cemetery. She is preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Queenan. She
is survived by her sister, Mary Crawford (Clifford); nieces and nephews,
and members of her congregation.
Sister Mary Elizabeth Waters
Sister Mary Elizabeth Waters, O.S.F., formerly Sister Mary Demetria, died
in Assisi house on Feb. 5, 2007. She was 79 and had been a professed member
of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 62 years. Sister Mary
Elizabeth was born in Washington, D.C. She grew up there and in Baltimore.
She entered the Sisters of St. Francis at 17, and went on to earn a B.S.
degree in English from Mt. St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Md.
She ministered primarily in education for 24 years, but also worked in
healthcare for 11 years, and in parish ministry for six years. In the
Philadelphia Archdiocese, for 10 years she served her congregation’s
retirement residence, Assisi House, as director of programming and residential
services. She became a resident of Assisi House in 2000, engaged in prayer
ministry until her death. She also served in the Archdiocese of Baltimore,
the diocese of Wilmington, and in the state of South Carolina. All services
were held in Assisi House, 600 Red Hill Road, on Thursday, February 8,
beginning with a Christian wake service, a Mass of Christian Burial, and
interment in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. She is survived by a brother,
John, of Las Vegas; a nephew, John, of Bradford, Mass., and her Franciscan
family.
