Prayer: Finding
St. Gianna Before
departing on our recent trip to Italy, my niece, Sister Maria Kateri,
S.V., arranged a wonderful surprise — we were to visit the family
of St. Gianna Beretta Molla. My niece’s order, the Sisters of Life,
enjoys a natural affinity for St. Gianna because of her association
with the cause of life.

JPII
Regional School 'A
good model for the diocese'
Erin and Bill Myles of St. Cecilia Parish, Coatesville, had a logistics
problem. They had three kids in parochial school — Conor, a seventh-grader,
had to be driven to St. Joseph School in Coatesville; Kathleen, in grade
five, had to go to St. Stanislaus Kostka, also in Coatesville, and Maeve,
in grade three, attended at St. Cecilia.
Catholic
Charities kickoff For Catholics who have proved
through the years that charity begins at home, it was appropriate
that the 2007 Catholic Charities Appeal Kickoff was the first major
gathering of Catholics in the Archdiocese since its bicentennial year
officially opened on April 8.
“As Catholics of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, we have so
much to be proud of … in two centuries,” Cardinal Justin
Rigali said in his address at the April 12 kickoff at the Sheraton
City Center Hotel.

when Old St. Joseph Church was erected in 1733, it was the only place
in the English-speaking colonies to publicly celebrate the Catholic
Mass.
