Request for prayers for peace in Pakistan

By Father Dominic Issac
Special to The CS&T

Pakistani Christians from Philadelphia and the surrounding area gathered on Jan. 3 at St. William Church to pray for peace in Pakistan in the wake of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. Her murder adds to the turmoil in a country already beset with political, financial and social problems. That is especially true for the country’s small community of Christians, who make up 2.4 percent of Pakistan’s total population.

In this New Year, please pray for peace in Pakistan.

More importantly, please pray for the government of Pakistan to adopt a spirit of tolerance toward our Christian brothers and sisters and those of different faiths within the country, by abolishing any form of religious persecution.
