Anthony F. Parlante
Anthony “Tony” F. Parlante Sr., of Turnersville, N.J., died
on Feb. 1, 2008. He was 87. Husband of the late Anna M. (formerly Sontag)
he was the father of Eilzabeth Baker Anthony F. Parlante Jr., and Msgr.
Gregory J. Parlante, pastor of St. Cornelius Parish, Chadds Ford. He is
also survived by five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A funeral
Mass was celebrated on Feb. 4 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Sicklerville,
N.J. Family and friends met Feb. 5 at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.
Margaret M. Daltwas
Margaret M. Daltwas, formerly Curry, of St. Matthew Parish in the Mayfair
section of Philadelphia died Dec. 31, 2007 at St. John Neumann Nursing
Home. She was 89. Born in Philadelphia to Margaret and James Curry, she
was a member of the Court of St. Matthew No. 1828 of the Catholic Daughters
of America, the Third Order of St. Francis and the St. Matthew senior
citizens organization. She was the devoted mother of Georgiana M. McDonald;
Sister Marlene Daltwas, I.H.M.; Edward R.; Ronald G., and Geralyn M. Visconto.
She was the sister of Anna E. Curry. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren
and 17 great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Jan. 7 at
St. John Neumann Nursing Home. Burial was in St. Dominic Cemetery, Holmesburg.
Sister Francetta Donnelly
Sister Francetta Donnelly, a Sister of Christian Charity, died Jan. 14,
2008 at Mallinckrodt Convent, Mendham, N.J. She was 83. Born in Philadelphia,
she entered the Sisters of Christian Charity in 1948. She served in many
ministries, including both elementary, high school and college education
in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She was elected general councilor of her
congregation in 1983, spending the next six years in Rome. She was active
for many years as a moderator of the Companions of Pauline, lay associates
of the Sisters of Christian Charity. She was predeceased by a brother,
John Donnelly, and a sister, Catherine Edwards. A Mass of Resurrection
was offered on Jan. 18 at the Sisters of Christian Charity motherhouse,
Mendham. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendham. She is survived
by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand nephews.
Judge William J. Lederer
Judge William J. Lederer died from cancer on Jan. 20, 2008 at the Hospital
of the University of Pennsylvania. He was 84. A World War II veteran,
he graduated from LaSalle College and Temple University Law School. He
earned his doctorate in law at Harvard University Law School. His political
career began shortly after his college graduation; he served four terms
as a state representative. Most recently, he was a senior judge of the
Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court, having also served in Superior Court
after being elected to the bench in 1974. While a judge he also taught
judicial seminars and civil-criminal programs at the Pennsylvania College
of State Judiciary. Until recently, he was a visiting lecturer at St.
Joseph’s University and Villanova Law School. He was predeceased
by two brothers, Joseph and Miles, and two sisters, Mildred Franzen and
Susan Minarik. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Jan. 26 at St. Michael
Church, Philadelphia. Burial was in St. Dominic Cemetery, Holmesburg.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marie Lederer; his children, William
Miles, Doneda Guyon, and Regina Joseph; brothers, Francis, Thomas, Michael,
Raymond and Bernard; sister, Mary Malloy; three grandchildren, and nieces
and nephews.
Kathleen Schrader
Kathleen Schrader, a lifelong resident of Southwest Philadelphia, died
Jan. 22, 2008. She was 58. Born in Philadelphia to the late Herbert B.
and Marcella Gallagher Schrader, she worked for Wachovia Bank for 17 years
and for 23 years before that for the P.S.F.S. financial institution. She
served her parish, Divine Mercy in Philadelphia, as a lector, extraordinary
minister of holy Communion, pastoral council member, and evangelization
and Eucharistic adoration committee member. She was a graduate of the
archdiocesan Church Ministry Institute. A funeral Mass was celebrated
on Jan. 25 at the Divine Mercy Worship Site. Burial was in SS. Peter and
Paul Cemetery, Springfield. She is survived by her sister, Rosemarie Schrader;
her brother, Bernie Schrader; a niece; an uncle and aunts, and cousins.
Sister Patricia Razler
Sister Patricia Razler, R.S.M. died on Jan. 31, 2008 at the Convent of
Mercy in Merion. She was 72. She professed her vows as a Sister of Mercy
in 1957 and earned a bachelor’s degree in humanities from Villanova
University. She taught elementary school for many years. In the Archdiocese
of Philadelphia, she taught at Holy Cross, St. Malachy, St. Christopher
and St. Raymond schools, as well as at St. Rose of Lima School, North
Wales; Holy Cross School, Springfield; Annunciation B.V.M. School, Havertown,
and St. Michael the Archangel School, Levittown. She also taught in North
Carolina and Florida. After teaching, she worked with horticultural services
at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital and then cared for the grounds at the Convent
of Mercy until her death. She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph,
Philip and Gerald. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Feb. 4 at the Convent
of Mercy. Burial was on Feb. 5 in the community cemetery. She is survived
by three brothers, Bernard, Jack and James; three sisters, Jean, Terry
and Margaret; nieces and nephews, and her religious family.
