New deacons for the Archdiocese
JOSEPH C. CARR is a member of SS. Cosmas and Damian Parish, Conshohocken, where he and his wife, Lynn, reside. They have two children, Joseph Jr. and Jennifer Carr. He is a 1968 graduate of St. Thomas More High School in Philadelphia and a registered master plumber. He is the owner of the Narberth Plumbing and Heating Company.
MARK H. DILLON is a member of Mother of Divine Providence Parish where he, his wife, Rosemary, and daughter Jocelyn reside. He is a 1976 graduate of Villanova University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He is a business consultant employed by Protiviti Inc.
DENNIS J. FRIEL is a member of Resurrection of Our Lord Parish in Philadelphia where he resides with his wife, Joanne. He graduated from Father Judge High School in 1968 and is employed as parish services director for Resurrection of Our Lord Parish.
GARY W. GUY is a member of St. Gabriel Parish, Norwood, where he resides with his wife, Margie. They have five children: Christine Bradley, Gary Jr., Daniel, Mary and Sarah Guy. He is a 1960 graduate of Olney High School, Philadelphia. He is employed by GlaxoSmithKline Inc. as a machinist.
JAMES T. McAVOY is a member of St. Elizabeth Parish, Uwchlan, where he resides with his wife, Louise. They have three children: Elizabeth Anne Gibson, James C. and Christopher McAvoy. He graduated in 1967 from LaSalle University, Philadelphia, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English. He is employed as a project manager for Siemens Medical Solutions.
EDWARD J. MORRIS is a member of St. John Bosco Parish in Hatboro where he resides with his wife, Susan. They have two children, Timothy and Nancy. He graduated in 1981 from Archbishop Ryan High School for Boys. He is self-employed at Recon Security.
MARK A. SALVATORE is a member of St. Dominic Parish, Philadelphia. He and his wife, Peggy, reside in Elkins Park. They have two children: Christopher A. and Monica M. Salvatore. He is a 1978 graduate of LaSalle University in Philadelphia, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and a 1991 graduate of Holy Family University in Philadelphia, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing. He is a retired major in the United States Army Reserves and is currently employed as a nurse for the Veterans Administration.
WILLIAM F. SHIRE is a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Levittown, where he resides with his wife, Margaret. They have two children, William Shire III and Patricia Armstrong. He graduated from Rider University with a bachelor’s degree in commerce. He is retired from sales management at the Conductive Containers Company.
