Sister Mary Jolanta Bartkowski
Sister Mary Jolanta Bartkowski, formerly Stacia Bartkowski, died April 28, 2008, in Lodi, N.J. She entered the postulancy of the Felician Sisters where she later professed her final vows in 1945. She earned her R.N. from Misericordia Hospital, N.Y.; her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Saint Johns University, Brooklyn, and her master’s degree in education at Villanova University, Philadelphia. As a nurse, she ministered for many years at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Philadelphia and Blackwell General Hospital in Oklahoma. A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, April 30 at Infirmary Chapel, Our Lady of Lourdes Hall, Lodi, N.J. She is survived by members of her extended family.
Sister Donna Marie Kluth, I.H.M.
Sister Donna Marie Kluth, I.H.M., formerly Margaret Mary Kluth, died June 12, 2008, at Camilla Hall, Immaculata. She was 86. She was born in Philadelphia to the late George and Florence Kluth. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, where she professed her vows in 1952. For the last 41 years until her death, she was a member of the staff at Camilla Hall, the nursing home of the I.H.M. Sisters. She was predeceased by her two brothers, George and Frank. A funeral Mass was held on Monday, June 16 at Camilla Hall, Immaculata. Interment followed in the Immaculata Cemetery. She is survived by her sister, Mary DeMarteleire, two brothers, Richard and William, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and members of her religious community.
Sister Theresa Marie Shannon, R.S.M.
Sister Theresa Marie Shannon, R.S.M., died July 5, 2008, at Lankenau Hospital. She was 89. She professed her vows in 1940. She earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in English and library science from Villanova University. She taught at St. Barbara School, Philadelphia; St. Joseph School, Summit Hill; St. Thomas of Villanova School, Rosemont; Maternity B.V.M. School, Philadelphia; Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Philadelphia; St. Denis School, Havertown; St. Raymond School, Philadelphia; St. Hubert High School; and John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School. She then moved to Williamsburg, Va., and was the librarian at Walsingham Academy. She later became a part of the motherhouse staff at the Sisters of Mercy convent until her death. A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, July 9 at the Convent of Mercy Chapel, Merion Station. Burial followed at the Community Cemetery. She is survived by a sister, Margaret Shannon Ripple and many nieces and nephews.
