ARCHDIOCESAN CLASS OF 2010 GRADUATES BREAK RECORD FOR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS EARNED
94% of all Archdiocesan high school graduates pursuing post-secondary education

The 4,648 young men and women who graduated from the 20 high schools of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia this June have been offered a grand total of $262,069,165 in scholarships, an all-time record high for scholarship dollars awarded to students across the Archdiocese. More than 94% of the Class of 2010 graduates will pursue a post-secondary education; 92% will be headed for college this fall.

"The Class of 2010, fueled by determination and passion for learning, has set an Archdiocesan record for scholarships earned," said Dr. Richard McCarron, Secretary for Catholic Education for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. "The $262 million awarded to our students reflects not only the academic and spiritual growth of the Class of 2010, but also the selfless support of their families, who have made significant investments in Catholic education that will set their children on a well-rooted path into the future."

Nearly half (46%) of the members of the Archdiocesan Class of 2010 received at least one college scholarship, and more than 6,000 scholarships were awarded in total. The Class of 2009 received $244,062,716 in college scholarships. Since 2000, Archdiocesan graduates have received more than $1.5 billion in scholarships.
